Finishes
2B, BA, brushed, mirror and PVD finishes explained
Separate base finish, texture and colour when approving samples and placing an order.
304 is a grade, hairline describes a finish, and champagne gold is a colour. Specify all three.
Start with the base surface
2B is a common smooth cold-rolled finish; BA is bright annealed. Mechanical finishing produces brushed, ground or mirror effects. Confirm a sample as well as the commercial finish name.
PVD colour and texture are separate choices
PVD is one decorative colouring process. Specify the underlying finish, colour, grain orientation and sample reference as separate order attributes.
Why photographs are not enough
Approve a physical sample under representative lighting. Agree colour variation and panel orientation, especially for adjacent panels. Use the original sample reference for repeat orders.
A useful finish description
An enquiry might specify “304 + hairline + champagne-gold PVD, aligned grain, approved sample colour, visible face and protective film requirements.” Discuss anti-fingerprint treatment and later forming before ordering.
